  • What are CDEs and LDEs and where can I learn more about them?
    CDE stands for Career Development Event and LDE stands for Leadership Development Event. You can find more information on https://www.ffa.org/participate/cde-lde/. On the website, you can access the CDE/LDE handbook, which includes a list of all CDEs and LDEs and more information about them.
  • Should I run for Region Office in the future?
    Yes! Be confident in your own ability to serve. Everyone has a skill, ability and/ or talent to share with others and help advance our region. Put yourself out there and go for it. We are all supporting you.
  • What is the best way to get involved in FFA?
    There are many camps and workshops in FFA. In these activities, you will be able to learn what it means to be a FFA member and the opportunities that are available. The best first step is to talk to your local FFA advisor.
  • What can you do in FFA outside of competitions?
    In FFA many focus just on the competitive activities, such as CDE's, LDE's, and SAE's, but there are also many other opportunities you can do as well. You can become more involved by attending events such as Greenhand Camp, Regional Fall Leadership Day, and National Convention. There are many more like these, and they are a great way to learn more about agriculture, and meet new people. Another way to be involved is by running for an Officer position, whether it is at the Chapter level or all the way to a National Officer, it will teach you a lot about personal responsibility. Being an FFA Officer is a great way to build skills that will help you through out your life.
  • What are some benefits of FFA?
    There are many benefits to FFA ranging from making new friends to becoming young professionals in agriculture. Being a member of the FFA has many oppportunities and benefits that include; competing in activities that interest you (Ex: Ag Mechanics or General Livestock Evaluation), being in leadership roles, becoming more comfortable with public speaking, connecting to people who have the same interests as yourself, and learning valuable information that you can bring with you to your future life and career.
  • Which CDE/LDE should I compete in as a Greenhand?
    Three great CDE/LDE's you could compete in as a Greenhand are Best Informed Greenhand (BIG), Creed Speaking, and Conduct of Chapter Meetings. Best Informed Greenhand is a great way to learn more about the FFA and its history. You compete by taking a written test consisting of 100 different questions regarding the FFA. Creed Speaking is an amazing way to practice your public speaking skills. You simply recite the FFA Creed and answer a few questions pertaining to the creed. Conduct of Chapter Meetings is where you can practice and learn how to efficiently run a meeting. It's a great way to learn Parliamentary Procedure and prepare you for the Parliamentary Procedure LDE. Each of these competitions are for 7,8, and 9th grade only.   • What is an SAE? How can I have a successful SAE?
    SAE stands for a Supervied Agricultural Experiance. An SAE is a great way for FFA members to bring precepts for what they have learned in the classroom and use them in the real world.   • How do I join Ag Education?
    FFA is an integral part of agriculture education. To join FFA, you must be enrolled in an agriculture course at your school. Contact your school counselor or agriculture teacher to enroll in an agriculture program and join FFA!   • Where can I get an official jacket?
    You can order a jacket on the Shop FFA website: https://shopffa.org/products?pSearch=jacket&sc=4. There are also scholarships for receiving a jacket such as the Blue Jackets Bright Future Scholarship. Contact your advisor with more information on the scholarships.
  • What degrees can I get as a FFA member?
    There are 5 differnt degrees- Discovery, Greenhand, Chapter, State, and American degree.
  • What if I don't live on a farm? Can I still be successful in FFA?
    Absolutely! FFA has something for everyone! Whether you come from a background in agriculture or not FFA will benefit you in more ways than you know. As an organization, we do not only represent and focus on agriculture but so much more. FFA changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education! Reach out to your local agriculture educator or one of your Region Officers to find what opportunities await you in the organization.
