Fall Leadership Day

Fall Leadership Day is the "kick-off" event of the school year organized by the Region Vlll FFA Officer team and is hosted by a different school in our region each year.  FFA members gather from across the region and attend three workshops.  Some of the workshops are dedicated to Greenhands (first year members) and include the basics of FFA.  Other workshops are geared to Chapter leaders and allow members to learn how to lead their chapter effectively.  Interactive discussions with leaders from other chapters allow chapters to share ideas about their successful activities and community involvement. A highlight of Fall Leadership Day is each attendee goes on a tour of an agricultural business or farm that is in the community that is hosting the event.  Fall Leadership Day is a great way for you to start the FFA year on a high note and to connect with FFA friends!

Region VIII Greenhand Camp is weekend camp for young and/or new FFA members who want to learn how to become a successful FFA member.  It is usually held in late November/early December and is a way to jump start for your FFA career.  You will learn about FFA opportunities such as Career Development Events (CDE's), Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE's), and Leadership Development Events (LDEs), etc.  Greenhands from around the region gather at this camp to learn proper etiquette, what it means to be an FFA member, and how to present themselves in public and on social media. There are fun group activities that allow you to get to know the region officers, and we complete a service project together as a group. There is some free time to get to know other members from the region and a dance. This camp opportunity early in your FFA career could be just what you need to get off to a great start!

Region VIII Leadership Conference is an event organized by the Region Vlll Officers. It usually takes place in the month of January and is a time for Region Vlll members to connect more informally. During the conference, members are split up into groups and are with people from outside their chapter.  This allows for many ideas to be exchanged and for discussions about how you can bring new topics and ideas to your chapter.  This also allows for discussion about how to deal with challenges your chapter or its members might be facing during the school year.  Time for recreation and a dance is included in this conference.  We also take time to work together on some service projects to benefit local communities as part of this conference.  If you like meeting new people, helping out others, and building enthusiasm for FFA, do not miss out on this conference!

Spring Awards Night

Spring Awards Night is a special chance for members to gather and recognize the outstanding accomplishments of individuals and teams in Region VIII.  All members are welcome to this event.  Career Development Event (CDE) winners and members' exceptional Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs are recognized. This is a time for our members, advisors and sponsors to see high level of activity, growth, and accomplishment that happens in Region VIII.  It is a great opportunity for members to see how many areas FFA members can be involved in and set goals for themselves. Spring Awards Night is a highlight and a summary of the entire year in our region.
